TroutFest 2013: Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited

Trout Unlimited is pleased to play host yet again to the 2013 TroutFest, on Feb. 15-16.

The Fly fishing expo and banquet will be held at the Rio Raft Resort in Canyon Lake, Texas.

World renowned author, writer and fly fisherman Lefty Kreh will be the keynote speaker. Other fly fishing luminaries such as Wanda Taylor and Taylor Streit will be speaking and present during all three days of the event.

Troutfest 2013 will feature: lecturers, authors, industry vendors, casting instructors and fly tyers.

The expo portion of this event is free to the public, while tickets are required for the banquet.

Lefty is one of the most respected names in fly fishing — an icon and a legend in the fly fishing arena. Regarded as a world-class master instructor, Lefty has taught fly-casting and fly-fishing techniques for over the last 60 years.

Lefty has fished with personalities such as, Ernest Hemingway, Fidel Castro, and most of the American Presidents since the 1950s. Lefty has received numerous distinguished awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Sportfishing Association.

Funds generated by the banquet and expo will be used by GRTU to conserve, protect and restore the cold tailwater fishery immediately below the Canyon Dam on the Guadalupe River.

The Guadalupe River is the premier southern most trout fishing destination in the U.S. The “Guad” is listed as one of the best 100 trout streams in the US.
